New Delhi/Paris, April 2025 — In a significant step towards strengthening people-to-people ties, India and France have operationalized the much-awaited Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) under the India-France Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement (MMPA).

Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed this key development during their recent bilateral discussions, highlighting it as a major initiative that will boost two-way mobility of youth and professionals between the two nations.

The Young Professionals Scheme will allow young citizens from India and France — particularly skilled professionals — to live and work in each other’s countries for a specified period. The initiative aims to provide exposure to global work cultures, foster innovation, and create new career opportunities for young talent.

Leaders from both sides expressed confidence that the YPS will further deepen the strategic partnership between India and France, not just at the government-to-government level, but also by enhancing cultural understanding and building personal connections between the youth of both nations.
This move comes at a time when India and France are celebrating decades of strong diplomatic relations marked by collaboration in areas like defence, education, technology, and climate action. The operationalization of YPS is seen as yet another milestone in advancing bilateral cooperation in human-centric development.

Officials from both countries are expected to soon release detailed guidelines on eligibility, application procedures, and operational timelines for the scheme.
