In a major boost to UK-India relations, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is visiting the UK to expand the £41 billion trade partnership, drive investment, and strengthen diplomatic ties.

India Expands Diplomatic Presence in the UK
India is opening two new consulates in Manchester and Belfast, reinforcing its commitment to deepening regional ties. This move will enhance trade, attract Indian investments, and support the growing Indian diaspora in the UK.
Additionally, the UK has welcomed over £100 million in new Indian investment, creating jobs and fueling economic growth beyond London, in line with the UK government’s Plan for Change.

Strategic Talks at Chevening House
Dr. Jaishankar will meet UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy at Chevening House to discuss:
Expanding trade and investment
Strengthening cooperation in technology and innovation
Addressing global challenges like climate change and security
Foreign Secretary Lammy emphasized that the £41 billion trading relationship is just the beginning, with greater ambitions ahead.
Technology, Innovation & Job Creation
A key focus will be the Technology Security Initiative, launched during Lammy’s visit to Delhi in 2024. This initiative aims to boost AI, telecom, and critical minerals collaboration, leading to job creation, stronger supply chains, and innovation in both countries.
Strengthening the UK-India Living Bridge
Dr. Jaishankar’s visit will also celebrate India’s strong educational and cultural ties with the UK, including a reception honoring the world’s largest Chevening scholarship programme.
